The Tutto è Possibile – Terre a 360° line of wines has Equalitas certification for the whole of the wines’ production process. It confirms our Group’s orientation and commitment towards sustainability, which is integrated and shared by our member growers.
It is made from Trebbiano and Merlot grapes originating in the vineyards of CAB Massari, a company that is the quintessence of the history of the cooperative movement in the Ravenna and Conselice areas.
In November, we applied for a contribution from NRRP funds for the wine production sector. This is a project that regards investment in sustainability: saving energy and making it more efficient, producing energy from renewable sources, saving water, and incentivizing a circular economy.
In 2021, the Cooperativa Agricola Braccianti Massari took part in the Equalitas project, supplying from its subsidiary Le Romagnole grapes cultivated according to the required “best agricultural practices”. This allowed us to gain certification for its totally sustainable production chain, from the harvesting of the grapes to their vinification and the bottling of the wine.
Our subsidiary winery Le Romagnole was certified by Equalitas thanks to its organisational qualities. A value chain project was also begun together with CAB Massari and Terre Cevico with the aim of enhancing the quality of the grapes and obtaining certification as a sustainable product.
As a result of our skills and meticulous teamwork, our Tutto è Possibile line of wines was created, the first without added sulphites. As a result of extreme care in every phase of production, these wines do not contain added sulphites and respect the principles of sustainability that are ever more important for consumers and for the environment.
Terre Cevico signed – together with 8 other important companies in the Region’s wine production sector – this development agreement with the goal of acting towards greater environmental protection of the soils and reducing the impact created by the production processes, with a view to creating a circular economy.
In 2020, our experimentation led to the inclusion of 9 resistant cultivars resulting from crossings. The next step involves the hybridization of the indigenous varieties of Emilia-Romagna, in order to encourage local biodiversity and reduce vine health treatments. Also especially important for the Region’s viticulture was the approval of a genetic improvement programme for the recognition of new varieties that are resistant to pathogenic fungi, developed from cultivars grown in Emilia-Romagna.
Terre Cevico obtained ISO 50001 Energy Management certification, which allows organisations to create and maintain an Energy Management System (EMS) to improve on a continuous basis the company’s energy performance and related consumption.
Since 2018, a process has been operative for recovering mains water from the various production departments, which allows us to reduce the use of water resources. We are determined to recover the water and return it to be used in the ultrafiltration and osmosis plants.
Terre Cevico presented to its stakeholders a Sustainability Report, with information on economic, governance-related, environmental and social topics. This helped us to have a better, more complete comprehension of the activities carried out, of the company’s progress, and of the results and impact produced by all of these factors.
At present, more than 85% of the electrical energy we produce ourselves with our solar panels is consumed at the winery, representing around 25% of our total consumption.
The result was greater energy efficiency and lower environmental impact due to less heat dispersion compared to traditional bulbs, more limited production of CO₂, and the absence of chemical pollutants.
Terre Cevico promotes and involves other important Italian cooperative wineries in the most suitable zones for growing organic grapes. This results in wines that come from our members in Emilia-Romagna, but also from Sicily and Puglia, all of which have in common the objective of expanding this project and creating a completely sustainable Italian wine production system.
We published the Ethical Code, an integral part of the Organisation and Management Model, which summarized the moral principles and rules of behaviour necessary for guaranteeing a management perspective and way of working that are just and respect the interests of all Terre Cevico’s stakeholders.
Terre Cevico obtained certification of the best-known food standard and the one most requested by supermarket chains in Italy and abroad which, together with BRCGS FOR FOOD SAFETY, attests to Terre Cevico’s great guarantees of safety and quality.
Terre Cevico achieved the food safety standard recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) to be able to offer the greatest guarantees of safety and quality in the national and foreign supermarket sectors. In 2011, we added to this certification the IFS Food standard, which represents a benchmark for companies all over the world.
Terre Cevico obtained ISO 9001 certification, which demonstrates the efficiency of the new quality management system for its products and processes, thus responding to the requirements and expectations of its clients.
Terre Cevico obtained Organic Certification, a paradigm of quality and of love for nature, essential for producing and labelling our products as organic.
